ELO - Is chess ratings by difficulty (expertise). The name was given after its inventor Arpad Elo, a physicist professor from Hungary. First implemented in 1960 by the USCF (United States Chess Federation), was finally adopted by FIDE (World Chess Federation) in 1970. It replaced the old "Harkness System" for being more accurate.
