16" Chancellor Board - 1 1/2" Squares, Mark of Westminster (Ebonized and Maple)

The Chancellor chess boards by Mark of Westminster are premier, furniture quality, real-wood veneer inlays. The chancellor boards have a larger border to show off the fine woods used in its manufacture. It also a unique mosaic pattern that alternates black with maple that is not only stylish, but allows the board to match well with many chess sets. Less than 100 of these chess boards are produced each year, and each come with a certificate of authenticity with serial number. Ebonized Birds Eye Maple is for the individual looking for a pure black board. The dark squares are lacquered black with a matte finish, which has no grain whatsoever. Birds Eye Maple is known to have a number of knots and curls which can sometimes be seen in the light squares of these boards. The maple is a good complement to the boxwood used in chess pieces, so this board complements all types of woods, although particularly well with ebonized or ebony chess pieces.
